Introduction

This module builds on the knowledge and skills previously acquired regarding SDMX structural modelling. The module introduces practical knowledge on how to create and manage an SDMX structural model using the Fusion Metadata Registry (FMR).

This knowledge and the maintenance of the structural model in an SDMX registry will create the enabling environment for improving statistics production throughout the data lifecycle.

Recording the SDMX structural model in an IT system, ideally in an SDMX registry, is the foundation of metadata driven systems and an essential element to support data quality improvement efforts and innovation in statistics.

What you’ll learn

Learning Objectives

In this module, you will learn:

  • The purpose of and role played by an SDMX registry.
  • The capabilities of and the principal statistical use cases addressed by FMR.
  • How to capture and manage essential SDMX concepts and artefacts using FMR.
  • How to view changes over time to artefacts managed in FMR and identify what was changed and when.
  • How to identify relationships between all concepts and artefacts being managed in FMR.

Prerequisites

You should already have:

  • Completed the previous two modules in this learning journey:
    • Introduction to Structural Modelling for Statisticians
    • Essential SDMX Structural Modelling
  • A basic understanding of SDMX, potentially from having taken an introduction to SDMX course.
