The theme of this year’s Workshop is Where Knowledge Becomes Expertise, and Expertise Shapes the Standard. High quality, timely data is the lifeblood of evidence-based policy making. Since its first release in 2004, SDMx has been a key enabler by providing a powerful set of open standards, software tools, and guidelines for managing the complete statistical data and metadata lifecycle. It continues to help organisations to streamline business processes and reduce the costs of data and metadata collection, processing, reporting and dissemination.
Monday 30 November to Friday 4 December 2026 | Ankara, Türkiye and online
The Experts Workshop is a biannual event that brings together SDMx experts from national statistical offices, central banks, other government departments, international agencies, academia, and the private sector, from around the world, to discuss and promote good practices, share knowledge and experiences, and advance the standard to adapt to new technologies and evolving requirements.
The Workshop will be hosted by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) with the support of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT). The Bank of International Settlements (BIS), European Central Bank (ECB), Eurostat, International Labor Organization (ILO), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), United Nations Statistical Division (UNSD), and the World Bank sponsor the standard for Statistical Data and Metadata (SDMx) initiative.
The Workshop will take place in person and will also be broadcast on a teleconferencing platform for registered remote delegates to view the proceedings. In-person attendance is required for participation in the discussions and capacity building. The event will start with four days of main sessions from 30 November to 3 December 2026 and will conclude with one day of SDMx capacity building (training) for in-person participants only on Friday 4 December 2026.
The agenda of the meeting and information about the venue, will be published on the website of the event at https://sdmxexperts2026.org . All sessions will be held in English with no translation offered.
We invite you to register to the workshop at https://sdmxexperts2026.org/ by 14 October 2026. Participation at the workshop is free of charge, but travel expenses are the responsibility of the participating organisation.
The meeting is primarily addressed to SDMx experts, so in case of limitations in venue capacity, applicants with significant expertise in SDMx will be prioritised.
Questions relating to registration and practical arrangements should be addressed to: sdmxexperts2026@sdmx.org .
